The Topaa’nga collection is inspired by the color gradation found in natural landscapes. In the Native American language, Tongva, Topaa'nga means "where the mountain meets the sea". The collection is an exploration on how the depth of the sea and its stark contrast with the steady rising topography can be captured in 2D visuals, using Studio Lel’s signature stone overlay technique.
In this piece, natural shades of Lapis Lazuli are used to achieve the dégradé effect, hence, also making use of the grey, and mostly unwanted or wasted parts of the natural stone. The material carries beautiful specks of gold that add further character to it and make each piece unique.
